Stuff that actually fits.

Honest guides to furniture, beds, clothing and gear built for big and tall people, with real weight ratings and real measurements.

Built for your frame, not the average one.

Almost everything you can buy is designed around an average body. The chair is rated for a weight nobody mentions until it fails. The bed frame has a slat gap that voids the warranty. The jeans stop at a 34" inseam and the shoe size stops at 13.

Rated To digs into weight ratings, seat widths, inseams and legroom so you don’t have to find out the hard way — and so you don’t pay twice for the same thing.

"Rated to 400 lb" is a number a manufacturer chose. It is not a promise, and it rarely means what people assume.

It is usually a static rating, measured with weight placed gently in the centre of the seat — not someone dropping into it after a long day. It often applies to the frame only, not the gas lift or the casters, which are the parts that fail first. And it is almost always the point at which the warranty stops applying, which is a separate question from the point at which something breaks.

So on every guide we publish, we cite the manufacturer’s own figure, say when we checked it, and tell you where the fine print narrows it. Where we have measured something ourselves, we say so. Where we haven’t, we say that too.
